Samsung Z Fold 2 Singapore: Prices, Specs, and More
Samsung’s first attempt at a foldable phone – Samsung Galaxy Fold, has received lots of mixed feedbacks. Some love the state-of-the-art design, some stated the first-gen vibe when using the Samsung Galaxy Fold, while most just got turned off by the price point. Now, the Korean tech giant has surprised us once again with the Samsung Z Fold 2 ( yes, Samsung decided the Z moniker for all its foldable phone ).
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 ( aka Samsung Fold 2 ) is now available globally and there’s good news and bad news that comes with the release. The good news is that it is way better than the first-gen Fold, the bad news is, the latest device now known as “Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2” will still cost you a lot. It is now retailing at S$2888. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 will be available in Mystic Bronze and Mystic Black with a 256GB internal storage.
The device will now come 5G ready and available through local major telecommunication providers including M1, Singtel, and Starhub. You can also get the device through Samsung’s online store and physical Samsung Experience Store, and other authorized IT stores.

Samsung Z Fold 2 Display and Design
Putting the monstrous price tag aside, the Z Fold 2 is actually a better device compared to its first-gen counterpart. The device comes in Mystic Bronze and Mystic Black color. Out of the two, Mystic Bronze is sleeker and head-turning while the Mystic Black is more business-oriented. There’s also a Thom Browne Edition which will cost a lot more compared to the Mystic Bronze and Mystic Black models but the Thom Browne Edition does come with extra accessories in the box.
Similar to the first Fold, you will get two screens on this device: a cover screen that is accessible when the phone is folded, and an internal screen that is accessible when unfolded. The size of the cover screen on the Z Fold 2 has been increased from a 4.6-inch display into a 6.2-inch display, the internal screen is also increased from a 7.2-inch display to a 7.6-inch display. What’s even better is the removal of the ugly camera notch on the internal screen from the first-gen. It is now replaced with a single smaller cutout for the selfie camera.
Samsung made sure to pack the Z Fold 2 with more upgrades for better durability and usability. Upgrades include UTG ( Ultra-Thin Glass ) – the same technology found on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G, to provide a sturdier screen and a better touchscreen experience, and a sweeper mechanism on the hidden hinge which Samsung claims to be able to prevent dirt and dust from entering the device. The hinge on the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is also using the same CAM mechanism which allows the device to stay open in multiple positions.
The internal screen is not only bigger but also boasts a faster 120Hz screen refresh rate. This means the display is smoother and brighter compared to its predecessor’s 60Hz screen refresh. However, the 120Hz refresh only applies for the internal screen, the cover screen will use an OLED display which is still way better than the one on the first Galaxy Fold.
Samsung Z Fold 2 Cameras
The Z Fold 2 house a total of 5 cameras, specifically 3 cameras on the rear array, a single selfie camera on the cover screen, and a single camera on the internal screen. Strangely, the camera on the near S$3000 device is a step down from the Samsung Note 20 series. There is no 108MP sensor and no 50X zoom, but instead, you get a set of 12MP shooters that did their job well but it doesn’t seem fit on a device with such a high price tag.
The Galaxy Fold2 comes with a triple camera setup which consists of a 12MP main cam, a 12MP ultrawide cam, and a 12MP telephoto cam which will give you access to 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom. The phone features a very good functionality where you can take a selfie using the main camera and use the cover screen as a viewfinder. The cover screen will also show the subject how they look when someone is taking a photo for them.
Samsung Z Fold 2 Specifications
Under the hood, you will find the almighty Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset and a 12GB RAM. It also comes with an unexpandable 256GB storage space, which again for a device so expensive, should have.
The Galaxy Fold2 also features a Flex mode where the phone can stay half folded. Samsung specified that the hinge can support the phone half folded at 75 and 115 degrees. Similar to that on the Z Flip, you can use the flex mode with the camera where you can just place the device on any flat surface to act as a tripod.
Battery wise, the Fold2 has a 4500mAh battery which is a step up from its predecessor. The first-gen Galaxy Fold have had a smaller 4380mAh battery. On top of that, you also get a 25W wired fast charging, wireless charging, and reverse charging.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Review
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is a very innovative device and is way ahead of its time. The folding technology embedded in this device is remarkable and fashionable. However, its price point will always be its detriment since it costs almost double a vanilla Samsung Note 20.
